"While I Wait For Love"

Many of us have been wounded by love and lost our trust in others. But in this stage of my life, I discovered that love can be healing, not harmful, and that it is worth the risk and the challenge. Love is never easy, and I realized that I would rather face the difficulties of loving someone than close my heart and never feel again 

We all struggle with some aspects of ourselves, but we rarely get the chance to step back and examine WHY we have those struggles and how to overcome them. If we were honest with ourselves, we would see that there are many areas where we can improve and become a better version of who we are for ourselves and for others. Each struggle we face is not a reason to give up, but an opportunity to grow. When I realized how many struggles I had in this stage of my life, I decided to face them head-on while I was waiting for love.

This book covers a period of several years in which I had one heart ache filled situation after another.  The more I hung out with Katie, the more I wanted to tell her my feelings.... but I couldn't.  The timng was never right, and I had a lot of issues to deal with like being a little too "needy" in my phone calls and texts.  I wanted affrimation from Katie in so many situations.  I wanted to hear that she liked me, and give me clues as to how she felt, without my saying anything..  BUt one day I realized that I would rather have the "problem" of being in love with an amazing woman, than to have many of the other problems we have in life. 

After retiring form the military, I spent more than two years, cycling around the US, seeking to fix my issues by deepening my relationship with God. I believed He could transform me by showing me His goodness. I expected the trip to last only a year, but I guess God had more work to do in me, LOL! When I returned, some of my family members noticed that I had changed a lot, and that I was much more peaceful. I had resolved issues with my ego, my ability to be alone, and I had become a much better version of myself. It was an amazing adventure!
