After living in Puerto Rico for two years, I was fortunate enough to move to La Jolla, California. I then moved to Honolulu, Hawaii after returning from California. During my time in Puerto Rico, I learned how to embrace the culture by studying the history of the people and closely observing the locals as I worked and surfed with them. This allowed me to avoid making cultural mistakes that many non-locals make and helped me fit in a little more each day. As I began to spend more time with locals, I learned how important family and “Aloha” are to them. Before moving to Hawaii, I thought that the word Aloha simply meant “Hi” and “Goodbye.” However, after living in Hawaii, I learned that it meant so much more. I learned about respecting others, having gratitude for life and nature, and then sharing that with others. Although I was hoping to live in Honolulu longer than I did, work sent me back to California again. But for the few years that I got to live there, I came home with much better self-awareness and gratitude for all that was shared with me. Because of their hospitality, I would like to create Hawaiian-themed logos and products to honor the people and donate a percentage of the profits to a good charity located in Hawaii.
A little about Hawaii-
Hawaii is a paradise for anyone who loves nature, adventure and culture. Living in Hawaii means enjoying the best of both worlds: the modern amenities of a developed state and the ancient traditions of a Polynesian society. One of the most attractive aspects of living in Hawaii is the Aloha spirit, which is the essence of Hawaiian culture. It means living with love, respect, compassion and harmony with oneself, others and nature. It also means being hospitable, generous and welcoming to everyone, regardless of their background or origin. You’ll feel the Aloha spirit everywhere you go, from the friendly locals to the festive events to the sacred sites. Another great aspect of living in Hawaii is the diversity and beauty of the islands. Each island has its own personality, history and attractions. You can explore volcanoes, waterfalls, rainforests, beaches, coral reefs and more. You can also experience different activities, such as surfing, hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, whale watching and more. You’ll never run out of things to do or see in Hawaii. You’ll also enjoy some of the best weather in the world, with warm temperatures, gentle breezes and plenty of sunshine all year round.
Hawaii is a dream come true for many people who want to live a simple, happy and fulfilling life. It’s not perfect, but it’s close enough.
